BetMGM promotes chief product officer to COO

BetMGM has promoted chief product officer (CPO) Jarrod Schwarz to the newly created position of chief operating officer (COO).

Schwarz joined the Entain and MGM Resorts JV in March 2021, after spending two-and-a-half years at Walt Disney as its senior vice-president of product and design.

While there, he was responsible for the management and design of ESPN.com and the media giant’s app and fantasy games.

Prior to taking on the Disney-level role, Schwarz spent more than five years working across ESPN in various positions, joining in July 2013 as senior director of product management before being promoted a year later to vice-president of product management.

Schwarz also spent several years at eBay and San Francisco-based firm Bloomspot.com – which specialise in exclusive offers for restaurants, spas and events in the US.

In his new role as COO, Schwarz will be responsible for product, customer operations, tech and trading.

Along with Schwarz’s promotion, BetMGM announced it was moving its strategy, corporate development and select business functions under the management of CFO Gary Deutsch.

The JV’s igaming and sports betting arms are led by Oliver Bartlett and Raymond Doyle, respectively.

The operator said the changes would allow for “more streamlined planning and collaboration and to more closely align and integrate strategic capabilities”.

Commenting on the promotion, BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt remarked: “Jarrod has been an integral part of our incredible team, building BetMGM into one of the most recognisable and successful brands in sports betting and igaming.

“He has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, strategic thinking and a deep understanding of our business.

“I’m confident this change will ensure we continue to deliver exceptional products and experiences to our players.”
