Playtech has announced it will commence a share buyback programme worth up to €50m (£43.7m) which is set to run until March 2026.
The programme will see Playtech purchase up to 30,929,424 ordinary shares, as per the agreements laid out during the company’s annual general meeting (AGM) in May 2025.
All of the ordinary shares purchased as part of the programme will be transferred to the company’s Employee Benefit Trust for nil consideration, with a view to the shares being used to fund future awards via Playtech’s employee share schemes.
The supplier said the total number of shares in issue and the total number of voting rights in the company are expected to remain the same following the completion of the buyback programme.
Playtech has enlisted Goodbody Stockbrokers UC and Jefferies International Limited as its brokers to operate the programme, with each firm given authority to purchase ordinary shares as agents on the company’s behalf.
Both brokers will complete the buybacks of €25m each and are at liberty to make trading decisions with regard to the buyback programme.
The shares will be purchased on the London Stock Exchange and other trading platforms, in accordance with European regulations.
At the time of writing, Playtech shares are trading at 372p, up 3.9% from market open.
Earlier this month, Playtech reported revenue of €387m (£338m) for the first half of 2025, down 9.9% year on year (YoY) when compared to the corresponding period in 2024.
Profit for H1 amounted to €1.6bn, boosted heavily by the sale of Italy-facing brand Snaitech to Flutter Entertainment in a €2.3bn deal.
Adjusted EBITDA for the period fell 16.3% YoY to €91.6m, leaving an EBITDA margin of 24%. This was in line with the €90m EBITDA forecast delivered by the company for H1 last month.
