Year-on-year sports betting growth for Arizona in July

Sports betting revenue and handle in Arizona increased year-on-year in July, despite player spending falling to its lowest monthly total in a year.

Gross event wagering receipts for the month, covering online and retail spending, amounted to $463.7 million. This beat last year by 13.1% but fell 14.6% shy of June 2025, the Arizona Department of Gaming reported.

Online betting spend reached $462.5 million in June, while retail wagers topped $1.2 million.

Players received back a total of $409.2 million from sports betting during the month, leaving $53.4 million in adjusted gross receipts. After deducting $12.7 million in free and promotional bets, adjusted gross receipts reached $40.7 million.

The adjusted total surpassed last year by 40.3% but was 19.4% behind June this year. Of the monthly total, $40.6 million came from online betting, while just $104,581 was generated by retail sportsbooks.

Based on the final adjusted amounted, monthly hold in Arizona was 8.8%.

FanDuel keeps hold of Arizona top spot

Looking to operators, FanDuel remained the market leader in terms of revenue. It posted $13.9 million in post-free bets receipts from $155.4 million in bets for a hold of 8.94%.

Marginally behind was longtime rival DraftKings, which reported $13.1 million in revenue for the month. After taking $126.1 million in wagers, this resulted in a 10.39% hold.

BetMGM followed in third, posting $5.2 million off a $57.8 million handle for a 9% hold.

Fanatics was next with $3.2 million in revenue and an 8.86% handle, leaving an 8.86% hold. Bet365 completed the top five with $2.1 million from a $32.2 million handle, with a hold of 6.52%.

As for tax, operators paid $4.1 million in total. Almost all of this was from mobile betting, taxed at 10%, with just over $8,000 from retail wagering, which has an 8% tax.
