Gambling Book Awards announced

A new award has been launched to recognise books with gambling as a central theme. The Gambling Book Awards, created by The Gambling Files podcast hosts Fintan Costello and Jon Bruford, will present its first prizes in Barcelona in January 2026 during ICE.

The top award carries £7,000, with £1,000 awarded to each shortlisted title. Shortlisted authors will be invited to Barcelona with travel and accommodation covered by the organisers.

The organisers are inviting submissions of fiction and non-fiction, whether pro- or anti-gambling, with a focus on writing quality, accuracy and storytelling. A panel of industry figures will judge the entries.

Submissions opened on September 1st and will close September 30th, covering books first published between September 30th 2024 and September 29th 2025. A longlist will be published on December 1st and a shortlist on January 5th, ahead of the prize ceremony at ICE.
