The Merkur Spielbank Hohensyburg is turning 40 – and is celebrating this anniversary with a unique program.
From 25 to 27 September 2025, the Dortmund Casino is inviting guests to the big MEGA Weekend. Under the motto Stars, Shows and Gravel, guests can expect top-class celebrities, spectacular game shows and prizes with a total value of over 140,000 euros – guaranteed and without participation fees.
“The Hohensyburg is an institution in the German casino landscape. For our 40th birthday, we want to offer our guests a weekend that brings together gaming, glamour and entertainment on a new level,” says David Schnabel, CEO of the Merkur Group and responsible for the casinos division. “We are looking forward to top-class stars and the most popular live events of the German casinos – bundled in just three days.”
To kick off the anniversary celebration, the casino will roll out the red carpet on Thursday, September 25, from 6 p.m. Some prominent guests have already confirmed their participation in the festivities. Among others, Hollywood actor Ralf Moeller, who became known worldwide through films such as “Gladiator”, as well as entrepreneur, presenter and “Jungle Queen 2025” Lilly Becker have announced their participation. From 9 p.m., show host Tommy Lücke, the face of the popular “Big Casino Gameshow”, will take the stage. At the electrifying live event, the candidates have the chance to play for the main prize of 10,000 euros.
One day later, Germany’s largest bingo event series will be held in Dortmund. Entertainer Cassy Carrington, together with her assistant Ecki, will provide a festival atmosphere and lots of entertainment at “Bingo with Cassy”. Each bingo brings 100 euros in cash, and the final round also attracts with a main prize of 5,000 euros.
Saturday, September 27, offers an all-day experience. As early as 12 noon, the play money rally invites you to win up to 9 x 1,000 euros. In the evening, the grand finale of the weekend follows: the XXL game show “Auto-Alarm”. At the end of the evening, one person is guaranteed to drive home with a Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 worth over 120,000 euros. And the special highlight: Every visitor can participate – and completely free of charge. On all three days of the anniversary celebration, guests will receive free tickets at the reception. With a little luck, you will hold a winning ticket in your hands, which will go into the lottery drum and open the way to the show stage.

In addition to the show program, the casino invites its guests on a special journey through time: A large-format exhibition on the gaming area presents 40 years of history of the Hohensyburg – with the most iconic pictures, photos and unforgettable moments from the glamorous opening in 1985 to the present day.
To ensure that all visitors can enjoy the weekend in a relaxed manner, the casino has prepared extensive organisational measures: Additional parking areas directly at the hotel as well as extended check-in capacities ensure that arrival and guest traffic runs comfortably and smoothly.
