Starting September 1, Caesars Sportsbook will charge Illinois bettors an extra 25 cents for every online wager, applying the change to all online cash bets.

Bets made with bonus credits or reward points will not be charged. In-person bets at Caesars’ three Illinois casinos – Grand Victoria in Elgin, Harrah’s Joliet, and Harrah’s Metropolis – will stay the same. If a bet is canceled or voided, the extra 25 cents will be refunded. Caesar’s customers will see the fee clearly in their bet slip and transaction history.

Caesars sent a notice to Illinois users on August 25, explaining the changes:

“This will be shown during bet placement and indicated in the bet slip and can also be found in your bet and transaction history.”

Illinois approved a per-bet fee on sports wagers back in May 2025. As a result, many operators have already responded to the news. While Caesars decided to pass the fee to its customers by exactly 0.25 cents, DraftKings and FanDuel responded with a 50¢ fee per bet.
