After the sudden approval of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gambling Bill, Flutter Entertainment has stopped all real-money gaming activities in India.
Passed on August 20 and signed by the president just two days later, the law now bans all forms of real-money gaming in India, including skill-based games. The speed of the decision left no room for discussion with the industry, a move many operators have criticized.
Flutter CEO Peter Jackson voiced frustration:
“We believe this change will drive customers to the unregulated market, offering limited consumer protections and providing no contribution to the local economy.”
In its Q2 2025 report, Flutter had expected its Indian arm to earn around $200 million, with much of the profit due in the second half of the year. However, now, the company is reviewing the financial hit, including possible write-downs at Junglee Games, its Indian subsidiary, which employs more than 1,100 people and has focused on safe, skill-based gaming.
Over the past four years, Flutter has heavily invested in India. But for now, India seems the most unwelcoming country for the iGaming practices.
