Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has announced the appointment of McKinsey & Company senior adviser Sarena Lin as the company’s new chief transformation officer (CTO).

Taking on the role from 25 August, Lin will be tasked with heading up the operator’s newly established transformation office.

Under the remit of driving the “holistic transformation” of the group, Lin’s role will also involve designing the company’s transformation roadmap, leading cross-divisional initiatives, “strengthening foundational enablers” and establishing sustainable changes across the organisation.

In addition to her position with HKJC, Lin concurrently serves part time as a member of the supervisory boards of medical firms Siemans Healthineers and Bergman Clinics.

Lin also works as an adviser at Summa Equity and McKinsey & Company – the latter of which she spent almost 13 years as a partner between 1998 and 2011.

Prior to joining HKJC, she spent two years as chief transformation and talent officer at German firm Bayer between February 2021 and August 2023.

Lin also worked for three years at animal health company Elanco between 2018 and 2021, holding the roles of president of Elanco USA and executive vice-president of transformation.

A HKJC statement read: “The Hong Kong Jockey Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Sarena Lin as chief transformation officer (CTO) with effect from 25 August 2025.

“Ms Lin is a dynamic and seasoned leader with extensive experience in transformation, human resources and corporate strategy across Asia, Europe and the Americas.

“She has led global transformations for large-scale organisations and has served on multiple public and private boards.”

Posting on LinkedIn, Lin wrote: “In my new role, I will be leading transformative initiatives that strengthen the Club’s capabilities as a customer-centric, agile and efficient organisation.

“Established in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club is a unique institution that combines world-class horseracing, responsible sports wagering and a strong commitment to community betterment.

“As one of the world’s top racing clubs and Hong Kong’s largest taxpayers and charitable donors, the Club contributes significantly to the city’s social and economic fabric.

“I am deeply honoured to be joining the Club. I look forward to transforming the Club to fulfill its mission – for the betterment of the society.”

In May, HKJC announced a new strategic partnership with XIX Entertainment, with a view to transforming the group into a global sports entertainment brand.
