Playtech has announced it anticipates at least €90m in adjusted EBITDA for the first half of 2025, it was announced in a trading update today, 1 August.

The company, which has overseen the €2.3bn sale of Snaitech to Flutter, as well as parting with its Germany-facing HAPPYBET brand for an undisclosed fee, is in the process of offloading all of its B2C assets to become a “pure-play B2B business”

This explains why the updated adjusted EBTIDA forecast is notably less than the €243m that was generated in H1 2024.

Playtech notes that it continues to see “strong performance” since its last trading update in May, with momentum continuing within its B2B arm, while favourable sporting results in Q2 led to a “better than expected” contribution from Caliente Interactive, Playtech’s Mexico partner.

The update added: “Caliente Interactive has also now declared and paid its first dividend under the revised strategic agreement.”

The agreement comes after a dispute between Playtech and its Caliente joint venture partner Caliplay over allegations of unpaid fees.

However, terms of the new agreement mean Playtech is no longer entitled to B2B services fees but receives dividends as an equity holder with a 30.8% stake.

Assessing the remainder of the year, Playtech’s update read: “The company continues to anticipate increased investment for growth in the US and Brazil in the second half of 2025, and we remain mindful of the headwinds in Brazil and Colombia flagged in May’s trading statement.

“Given the exciting growth opportunities ahead, the board remains very confident in Playtech’s ability to execute on its strategy as a predominantly pure-play B2B business.”

Playtech’s H1 results will be published on 11 September.
