Christian Polsäter, group sports director at LeoVegas Group, has announced his exit from the firm after a near eight-year stint.
Polsäter arrived at the operator in November 2017 as sports manager for Sweden, a title he held for 10 months before being named head of sportsbook in August 2018.
In October 2020, Polsäter was promoted to group head of sportsbook before he was named group sports director in February 2021.
As part of his duties, Polsäter was responsible for the entire sportsbook vertical for all LeoVegas Group brands, which includes expekt and BetUK, as well as the BetMGM brand outside of the US.
Prior to joining LeoVegas Group, he had a near-three-year spell at Betsson Group.
Polsäter’s departure from the MGM Resorts International-owned operator comes after it rolled out its first proprietary sportsbook in Denmark on the eponymous LeoVegas brand and expekt.
The tech, which is built on the acquired Tipico US assets, is due to be pushed into more markets in the coming months.
As a result, LeoVegas Group will eventually transition off of the Kambi stack, with the pair having signed a renewal through to 2027 earlier this year.
Confirming his exit, Polsäter said: “My journey at LeoVegas started on one of the steep slopes in Engelberg, and the ride continued for eight incredible years filled with brand expansions, acquisitions, exciting challenges and so much more.
“Now, it’s time for me to say goodbye to an amazing company. I’ve loved (almost) every second of the ride and am incredibly grateful for everything I’ve learned along the way.
“Too many people to thank individually, but a special shout-out to my managers, closest team members and all the other talented and passionate colleagues across all offices who made this such a memorable time.
“LeoVegas has been a fantastic place to grow, and I’m proud to have been part of the sportsbook team through some exciting times.”
Polsäter continued by issuing a look to the future, adding: “As the company enters a new chapter with its own proprietary sportsbook, I’m confident it’s in great hands. I wish all my former colleagues at Leo the very best, both professionally and personally.
“I’m leaving with unforgettable memories and friendships I’ll always value. Thanks for the collaboration, the laughs, the challenges, and for always pushing to be better.”
In other company exits, LeoVegas Group CEO Gustaf Hagman confirmed he stepped down from his post mid-way through last month, over 14 years on from founding the company.
Hagman has been succeeded by the firm’s chief product and technology officer (CPTO) Mattias Wedar.
