The Bookie Group has hired former Ladbrokes Australia boss Jason Scott and penned a sportsbook supply deal with BetMakers ahead of launching new brands over the next 18 months.

The Bookie Group (TBG), which runs the PonyBet brand in Australia, is aiming to roll out “several new betting brands” throughout 2025 and 2026.

The new sites will have a focus on “personalisation, entertainment and operational excellence”.

To help achieve those aims, The Bookie Group has agreed an extension to its deal with ASX-listed BetMakers to tap its Apollo platform.

Scott will join the operator ahead of the planned expansion, having stepped down as CEO of Racing Queensland earlier this year.

The exec previously served as vice-president of trading, VIP and retail for BetMGM in North America between 2019 and 2023.

A former trading director for Ladbrokes, he was named interim CEO of Ladbrokes Australia in February 2017, before permanently taking the job in July.

PonyBet is currently led by Brian Trevitt as managing director. The brand is licensed by the Northern Territory Racing and Wagering Commission.

Scott said: “I’ve been incredibly impressed with the Apollo platform and the team behind it. The technology gives us the flexibility to move fast and innovate, and I’m excited to work with BetMakers to deliver unique and engaging products that modern punters are looking for.”

Martin Tripp, BetMakers COO, added: “The early success of PonyBet on the Apollo platform has been fantastic to see and a great endorsement of the BetMakers solution.

“We’re excited to partner closely with Jason, Brian and the TBG team as they execute on their vision for a dynamic, multi-brand wagering business.”

In other BetMakers news, Betr chair Matt Tripp and his Tripp Investment Trust are no longer a major shareholder in the supplier.

A notice on BetMakers’ ASX listing stated that Tripp and his investment vehicle had sold A$4.2m worth of shares in the company.
