Gross sports betting handle in Tennessee fell to its lowest total in 10 months during June, although the state was able to report year-on-year growth.
Total gross handle for the month was $350.9 million, according to the Tennessee Wagering Council. This surpassed last year by 2.5% but fell 19.8% short of the $437.5 million reported in Tennessee this May.
Gross handle had not been so low since $342 million was posted in August 2024.
Prior to $1.5 million in undisclosed adjustments, gross wagers for June amounted to $352.5 million. Again, this beat last year by 2.2% but was 20% shy of May 2025’s total.
Tennessee has not disclosed sports betting revenue since July 2023, therefore it is not possible to calculate hold. However, the council did reveal that tax income from sports betting in June was $6.5 million. Tennessee bases its tax rate on handle, the only US state to follow such an approach.
Eleven online platforms are approved to operate in the state. These include major names such as FanDuel, DraftKings, Fanatics, ESPN Bet, BetMGM, Caesars, Bally Bet and Hard Rock Bet.
