Better Collective North America CEO Marc Pedersen has said he is stepping down from the role after 18 years with the affiliate.
Pedersen played a key role in the Danish affiliate’s M&A strategy, having led its first 25 acquisitions before spearheading Better Collective’s growth in North America.
He first arrived at Better Collective in September 2007 as manager of Scandinavian markets.
After six years in the role he was promoted to deputy director of business development, where he supported the firm’s international operations expansions.
Two-and-a-half years on, Pedersen became director of business development, playing a key role in identifying targets and closing M&A deals.
March 2019 saw Pedersen once again promoted, this time to senior vice-president of business development and M&A.
However, four months later, he stepped up to the C-suite and the role of CEO of North America.
Over the last six years, Pedersen has overseen the growth of the affiliate’s North American arm, which now generates over $100m (£733.5m) in annual revenue.
His job at Better Collective was Pedersen’s first in the igaming industry, having previously spent a year-and-a-half in the Danish armed forces between February 2003 to August 2004 and two short spells at manufacturing firm Paratech as a trainee and then Scan Global Logistics as an IT manager.
The former Better Collective NA CEO confirmed he will be on leave for the next few months and will announce his next destination in due course.
Taking to LinkedIn to share his news, Pedersen wrote: “After nearly 18 years, last Monday was my final day at Better Collective.
“When I joined in 2007, we were just a few people cramped in a room in [co-founders] Christian [Kirk Rasmussen] and Jesper’s [Søgaard] apartment.
“By 2017, organic growth had taken us far, but that year marked a new phase as we kicked off our M&A strategy.
“I had the privilege of leading the first ~25 acquisitions. When PASPA was overturned, we seized the moment – acquiring VegasInsider and RotoGrinders.
“I stepped in to lead BC’s North American operations while continuing M&A. More followed – Action Network, a part of Better Collective, Playmaker and Playmaker Capital – we suddenly had a ‘dream portfolio’.
“None of this could have been done without the incredible team in BC North America. It has been an honour to have led such a talented team.
“With an organisation loaded with so many skilled, passionate individuals and stellar products & content – the future is bright for BC in North America.
“As for me, I’ll be on garden/transition leave for a couple of months. After that, I’ll announce my next step. I can’t say much, but I can say: I am very excited.”
