Dankse Spil has recorded post-tax profit of DKK500m (£57.4m) for the first quarter of 2025, representing a 2% decrease when compared to the same period last year.

The decline came despite revenue for the period amounting to DKK1.3bn, up 2% year-on-year (YoY).

Danske Spil attributed the discrepancy to the lack of income from daily fantasy sports brand Swush, which the company sold its holding in during Q1 2024.

The company’s lottery arm was the biggest contributor to the revenue total, increasing 3.1% YoY to DKK733m.

Revenue from the operator’s online casino and sports betting segment, Danske Licens Spil, added DKK396m for the quarter, up from DKK393m in Q1 2024.

Dankse Spil’s class lottery, Klasselotteri, saw the biggest YoY increase of any vertical, rising 17.2% to DKK75m.

This was in part down to the performance of the ‘15 is magical’ product which was introduced in Q4 2024.

A further DKK71m came from the company’s land-based segment Elite Gaming, down from DKK75m the previous year.

In terms of costs, Danske Spil paid DKK155m in government taxes, down DKK1m from the year prior.

Dealer commission totalled DKK90m, while other gaming-related costs amounted to DKK69m.

Amortisation and depreciation costs also added a further expense of DKK320m.

The operator has said it remains on track to meet its financial targets for the year, with revenue of DKK5.1bn to DKK5.3bn and post-tax profit of DKK1.9bn to DKK2bn projected for the end of 2025.

Last month, Danske Spil appointed Lars Krarup as its new chair.

Krarup, who previously served as mayor of the Herning Municipality, was appointed following a recommendation from the Danish Ministry of Finance.
