Raketech has proposed former Catena Media chair Kathryn Baker to become the affiliate’s new chair after Ulrik Bengtsson tendered his resignation earlier this year.

Baker, who served as fellow affiliate Catena Media’s chair between 2016 and 2020, has been selected by Raketech’s nomination committee ahead of the extraordinary general meeting (EGM) on 30 July.

The Malta-based firm said the committee had chosen Baker due to her “proven leadership and deep expertise in governance, growth and value creation”.

“Her skills in investments, transactions and financing will be invaluable as the company returns to growth and continues to transform,” Raketech added.

Alongside former Gaming Innovation Group board member Baker being proposed as chair, Raketech also put forward ex-Mr Green managing director Magnus Alebo as a candidate for the board.

Alebo, who is the current head of Japan for Raketech, served as Hero Gaming CEO and Betsson Group head of marketing during his career.

Should both Baker and Alebo be approved by shareholders at the EGM, they will assume their roles with immediate effect.

That in turn would see Bengtsson step down as chair.

Bengtsson has served as Raketech’s chair for the past four years. Earlier this year, he informed the business of his decision to vacate the seat in order to take on the CEO role at Sun International.

He is due to replace the South African operator’s current boss Anthony Leeming on 1 July.

Johan Svensson, Raketech CEO, said: “On behalf of everyone at Raketech, we are delighted about Kathryn’s proposed appointment as chair of Raketech and welcoming Magnus to the board.

“Their leadership experience and deep sector expertise will be a significant asset, and I look forward to working with both of them as we focus on executing our strategy and delivering sustainable growth for our shareholders.”

Earlier this month, Raketech confirmed the sale of its remaining US tipster business to an undisclosed buyer for €1.25m (£1.1m).
