Ontario's iGaming Revenue Reaches CAN$313.2 Million in April

Gross iGaming revenue in Ontario surged by 25.3% year-on-year in April, reaching CA$313.2 million (US$228.7 million). Despite a general dip in consumer spending, this increase was also reflected month-on-month, advancing past the $296 million reported in March of this year.

For April 2024, iGaming Ontario reported that the monthly total comfortably exceeded $250 million. Breaking down the revenue sources, casino gaming was the dominant contributor with $242.8 million, reflecting a substantial 35.6% increase from the previous year. Sports betting revenues held steady at $64.5 million compared to the same period last year, while poker revenues saw a slight rise of 3.5%, amounting to $5.9 million.

In the landscape of market share, online casino games constituted 78% of total revenue in April. Sports betting accounted for 21%, and poker represented a minor segment at just 2%.

### Ontario Players Spent Less in April

In April, the total betting volume reached $7.8 billion, marking a 26.4% increase from the previous year but falling short of the $8 billion wagered in March 2025 by 2%. Online casino bets observed a significant year-on-year rise of 29.4%, totaling $6.58 billion. Sports betting expenditures went up by 14.1%, reaching $1.07 billion. Meanwhile, poker wagers remained steady at $144 million, with a slight decline in overall bets month-on-month.

iGaming Ontario also shared data on the number of active monthly player accounts, which stood at 1.1 million in April. This count represented a 20.3% increase from the previous year and a 2.8% rise from March.

The average revenue per active player account experienced a growth of 4% from the previous year, reaching $287. This also indicated a 2.9% rise compared to March of this year.

In conclusion, casino games continued to be the primary driver of iGaming revenue in Ontario, contributing $242.8 million in April alone.
