Virginia Lottery reports that the state’s three active casinos generated $78.8 million in April 2025, up 31% YoY, with Caesars Virginia leading the way.

Under Virginia law, AGR is calculated as total wagers minus winnings paid to players. Based on this, the casinos contributed $14.2 million in tax revenue for the month. These funds are distributed through the state’s Gaming Proceeds Fund and support several key programs, including the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund and the Family and Children’s Trust Fund. A portion is also allocated to the localities hosting the casinos.

For Bristol, the host city of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the local share is directed to the Regional Improvement Commission. This group oversees economic development and infrastructure projects throughout the surrounding region.

Slot machines accounted for $59.5 million of April’s total revenue, while table games brought in $19.1 million. These represent year-over-year increases of 35.6% and 18.3%, respectively.

Among the three properties, Caesars Virginia led the pack with $32.4 million in AGR, a remarkable 64.2% increase from the previous year. Hard Rock Bristol followed with $21 million, up 50.9% year-over-year. Rivers Casino Portsmouth generated $25.2 million, down slightly by 4.3% from April 2024.
