Industry experts expect May’s GGR to hit MOP21 billion ($2.61 billion), potentially making it the best-performing month of 2025 so far and the only one to break the MOP20 billion projected in Macau’s annual budget.
Despite slight declines after the Labor Day holiday surge, daily gaming revenue is averaging MOP706 million ($87.6 million). When it comes to both the VIP and mass market gaming segments, the VIP play numbers grew 10–12% compared to last month, while the mass market grew by 6–8%. VIP win rates were also higher, helping boost the overall revenue.
Earlier, Macau lawmaker Ron Lam had pushed for more transparency regarding the 130 billion patacas (approximately US$16.2 billion) in non-gaming investments committed by the city’s six casino operators under their current 10-year contracts. He argued that the public should have a clearer understanding of how this substantial funding was being used outside of gambling-related ventures.
