Banijay Gaming has set its sights on global expansion and further revenue growth after securing podium positions in its four core markets.

Q1 revenue from the Banijay Group’s online betting and gaming arm came to €380.9m, representing an 18.2% increase when compared to the corresponding period last year.

Total revenue for the business, which also runs TV production and live events, rose 7.8% YoY to €1.1bn.

As outlined in the firm’s Capital Markets Day (CMD), the gaming arm is expected to return “low- to mid-teens” organic revenue at a CAGR from 2025 through to 2028.

At a group level, revenue is expected to hit the €7bn in 2028, with adjusted EBITDA to be greater than €1.2bn.

As per the CMD investor presentation, Banijay Gaming holds podium positions in its core markets of France, Portugal, Poland and the Ivory Coast via its Betclic brand.

In its native France, Betclic is the number one sports betting operator and second in sports betting, while in Portugal, the brand is the top player in sports betting and online casino.

Over in Poland, the company said Betclic is second placed in the sports betting market and the leading brand in the Ivory Coast.

The business said its proprietary platform and only being live in locally regulated markets had helped it shore up its operating base.

Those products, including Super Sub, which allows prop bets on football markets to be carried over by substituted players, was used by 1.2 million players in 2024.

In online casino, 20% of revenue is derived from exclusive content, while “continuous upgrades and a strong customer focus” on its apps have seen record high transactions across Betclic.

Speaking at the CMD, Banijay Gaming CEO Nicolas Béraud remarked that the company is targeting expansion into new markets as part of its future growth strategy.

He said: “We are now ready to enter new territories. Thanks to our tech platform, thanks to all the expertise and the foundation we have built during the last years, we see clear opportunities in Europe, Latin America and Africa.

“Both organically as we did in the past, we can do like we did in Poland or Ivory Coast, and also via M&A.

“Over the past 20 years, Betclic has reinvented itself time and again and accelerated at the key moments.

“We are now fully equipped to take on what’s next with bold ambition and strong foundation.”

Béraud added that the company is also well placed to consolidate its market share in existing territories.

He added: “[We’re targeting] massive potential growth in our existing markets, fueled by new features and higher penetration.

“Due to demographic changes, the gradual digitalisation of leisure activities, and the potential regulation of new [verticals] like online casino in France or Poland, we could acquire four to six times more new customers in our current markets.

“We are gaining market share for the last six years on every market, on every product. We believe we will continue to do that thanks to our superior product and our incredible customer experience.”

Béraud also shed light on his plans for incorporating AI into the sports betting and online casino platforms moving forward.

AI usage in the industry has made headlines in recent weeks as part of earnings season, with Lottomatica and DraftKings bosses espousing the benefits of the technology.

Béraud continued: “AI is really at the centre of what we are building today. It helps us to accelerate our performance across the board, and today, AI helps us to optimise all the promotion and the user journey.

“Now we are going much further. We’ve built an in-house AI team with 100 people, embedding intelligence at every layer of our operations.

“This will further boost our productivity, enable very innovative features and drive the next wave of personalisation.

“AI is also a major asset in our safer gaming policy. Entertainment is core to our mission, but in a responsible way. We combine human care with tech to protect our players.”
