Banijay Group records €1.1bn revenue in Q1 while profits skyrocket 92%

Banijay Group has recorded revenue of €1.1bn (£930m) for the first quarter of 2025, representing a 7.8% increase on a constant currency basis year on year (YoY).

The group’s largest revenue source was its content production, distribution and live experiences segment, which generated €703.6m and increased 2.9% YoY.  

Revenue from Banijay Group’s online betting and gaming verticals amounted to €380.9m, up 18.2% when compared to Q1 2024.  

Sportsbook revenue increased 19.5% to €295.8m, up from €246.8m, while the €55.9m generated from casino represented a 9.2% YoY climb.  

Poker revenue was up 25% to €23.6m, aided by the launch of Betclic’s in-house poker platform at the end of Q4 2024.  

The group’s horseracing betting product Turf also experienced a YoY boost, rising 21.6% to €5.5m.  

Banijay cited “strong growth in all products and geographies”, demonstrated by a 33% increase in unique active players compared to Q1 2024.  

Adjusted EBITDA for the quarter totalled €190.6m, up 16.5% YoY, leaving an adjusted EBITDA margin of 17.6%.  

After accounting for €600.2m of external expenses and €285.2m of personnel expenses, operating profit for the quarter came to €121.4m, up 26.7% YoY.  

Banijay’s overall net income for the quarter amounted to €35.9m – a skyrocketing 91.8% increase.  

Group CEO François Riahi praised the company’s strong start to the year. 

He said: “We are pleased to report a strong start to 2025. We recorded double-digit earnings growth across all activities and are well on track to meet our guidance targets for the year.  

“In content production and distribution, solid revenue growth was driven by the delivery of a strong slate of scripted shows, while our iconic super brands continued to perform. 

“Online sports betting and gaming delivered a very strong performance again in all markets and activities, with revenue up 18.2%, with a 33% increase in unique active players, which is the key indicator in terms of commercial development.

“The successful launch of a new proprietary poker app in Q4 2024 and effective cross-selling between products resulted in strong results from our poker business this quarter, and we expect to see continued momentum in this business line for the rest of the year.”
