Betano has entered into a long-term sponsorship agreement with Argentinian football club River Plate, as the Kaizen Gaming operator continues to flex its marketing muscles.
The deal will see the Kaizen Gaming brand become the side’s main and front-of-shirt sponsor, effective from the current 2025 season, replacing fellow operator Codere in the process.
River Plate currently sit second in group B of the Argentine Primera División, having defeated reigning champions Vélez Sarsfield 4-1 yesterday, 5 May.
Betano first launched in the Argentina market last year as part of its global expansion plans to be in 26 markets by 2026.
The operator has deployed a series of major sponsorships to push the brand in front of potential customers, including extensive work in Latam already.
Earlier this year, Betano sponsored the Brazilian Super Cup final which was played between Botafogo and Flamengo.
The operator also serves as the sponsor for both Brazil’s top football league, Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, and its domestic cup competition, Copa do Brazil.
Outside of Latam, Betano acts as the front-of-shirt sponsor for Portuguese sides Porto and Sporting Lisbon. The brand is also a minor sponsor for fellow Portuguese giant Benfica.
Additionally, Betano has front-of-shirt deals with Premier League side Aston Villa, alongside similar agreements with Sparta Prague and Viktoria Plzeň in Czechia, and FCSB (formerly Steaua Bucharest) in Romania.
In the past three years, the brand has also sponsored the 2022 FIFA World Cup and last year’s Euros and Copa América tournaments.
River Plate president Jorge Brito said: “It is a very important step to join forces with Kaizen Gaming and its Betano brand. They are aligned with our international focus, being present in 19 markets.
“Kaizen Gaming has demonstrated, through its work with the Copa América 2024, its great deployment in marketing.
“River Plate is a benchmark club in global sports marketing and the most popular in the world, in addition to being recognised for its people and its stadium. We continue to grow and make history, and we welcome Betano to our great community.”
Speaking on LinkedIn about the River Plate deal, Kaizen Gaming CEO George Daskalakis added: “Betano is connecting players across the world through their shared passion for the game. And when it gets to passion in football, it doesn’t get any bigger than River Plate.
“Many of football’s greatest have worn its jersey, from Alfredo Di Stéfano and Daniel Passarella to Enzo Francescoli and Marcelo Gallardo.
“And from now on, the Betano logo will proudly adorn the River Plate front of the shirt. What a great honour for all of us at Kaizen Gaming.”
