It is with great sadness that G3 has learned of the passing of industry stalwart, David Orrick (75).
Born in Dumfries, Scotland, in 1949, David was a 31-year veteran of the gaming industry, having served in communication roles with the Gauselmann Group, Austrian Gaming Industries, Recreativos Franco, Unidesa and Astra Games. David joined the industry in 1993 as editor of Euroslot magazine after a 17-year career as a motorsport journalist, editor, author and publisher, and also served as a founder, editor and publisher of Casino International magazine. His motorsports enthusiasm led to many tales of his time spent as rally co-driver and navigator, though nothing surpassed his love of football and his one-and-only team – Manchester United. David received industry recognition of his achievements in 2020, when he was the recipient of AGEM’s Peter Mead Memorial Award. David was a familiar face at almost every gaming event staged around the world and was a constant source of news, wisdom and advice. His ability to turn a phrase, deliver a witty line, give sage counsel, or just simply enjoy a chuckle, leaves a big hole. He was a consummate storyteller, and a person with whom everyone has a story.
