Arizona Breaks Records for Sports Betting Handle and Revenue in November

### Record Spending on Sports Betting in Arizona

Spending on sports betting in November reached $897.6 million (£708.2 million/€856.6 million). This figure surpassed October’s previous record of $759.8 million by 18.1% and was 25.8% higher than the previous year in Arizona.

Data from the Arizona Department of Gaming indicated that online spending amounted to $890 million, while retail wagers accounted for $7.6 million.

Consumers won a total of $811.3 million across online and retail platforms, resulting in adjusted gross event wagering receipts hitting an all-time high of $84.1 million. This exceeded the previous record, set in September 2024, by 8.7% and was almost double the total from November 2023.

Online betting contributed $83.3 million to the adjusted gross event wagering receipts for the month. Retail sports betting, in comparison, generated just $773,634.

Free bets in November amounted to $26.6 million, leading to adjusted gross event wagering receipts of $57.5 million after accounting for free bets, representing a year-over-year increase of 183.3%.

In terms of handle percentage, based on adjusted gross event wagering receipts before deducting free bets, the monthly figure was 9.37%. After subtracting free bets, the handle for November stood at 6.41%.

### FanDuel Continues to Lead DraftKings

Flutter Entertainment-owned FanDuel remained the leading sportsbook in Arizona. In November, it reported $29.9 million in adjusted gross event wagering receipts, before free bet deductions, from a $288.6 million handle, resulting in a 10.36% monthly hold.

DraftKings followed closely in second place, achieving $25.7 million from a higher handle of $293.4 million, resulting in an 8.76% hold for November.

BetMGM ranked third with $12.7 million in total adjusted gross event wagering receipts from a $111.6 million handle, which translated to an 11.38% hold.

Caesars reported $4.0 million in combined online and retail revenue from a total handle of $52.5 million, with a hold of 7.62%.

Fanatics earned $3.8 million in revenue, all online, from a $42.2 million handle, achieving a 9% hold. Next was Bet365, with $3.2 million, all from online, from a $39.2 million handle, resulting in an 8.16% hold.

ESPN Bet followed, generating $2.3 million in online revenue from $28.4 million, equating to an 8.1% hold. Hard Rock Digital was the only other operator to surpass $1 million in revenue, reporting $1.4 million from $20.4 million in wagers, resulting in a 6.86% hold.

Tax revenues for Arizona totaled $5.7 million in November. Nearly all was collected from online sports betting, which is taxed at 10%, while retail betting, taxed at 8%, contributed just $57,358.

Arizona reported a record sports betting handle for the second consecutive month in November 2024, while the state’s revenue also reached an all-time high.
