The latest figures from Spillmyndigheden, the Danish Gambling Authority, show an increase in Danes’ gambling consumption in July 2024, compared to the same month last year although land-based continues to decline.

In July 2024, Danes’ total spending on betting, online casino, slot machines and land-based (physical) casino amounted to DKK 554m. This is an increase of 2.5 per cent compared to July 2023.

The overall increase is driven by an increase in online casino consumption as well as a slight increase in betting consumption. Conversely, the consumption of slot machines and land-based (physical) casino in July 2024 has decreased compared to July 2023.

Online casino, which accounted for 51.25 per cent of total GGR, increased by 7.8 per cent with sports betting, accounting for 27 per cent, increasing by 0.7 per cent to DKK149m.

Land-based casinos slid by 9.4 per cent year-on-year to DKK29m, while slot machine revenue dropped by 5.2 per cent to DKK92m.

Spillmyndigheden said that 51,226 players had enrolled on its national self-exclusion scheme ROFUS in July.
