Merkur hosting four-day event in support of the Help for Heroes charity
Poker fans are being called to the table at MERKUR Casino Aberdeen on Summer Street, Scotland, for a four-day event in support of the Help for Heroes charity.
Taking place from Thursday 26 March to Sunday 29 March, the charity poker tournament will feature a £12,000 prize pot. Players can enter for £100 directly into the prize pot, plus a minimum five-pound donation, with funds raised supporting Help for Heroes – the UK charity that provides vital services to help veterans live independently after service.
The event is being led by George Gordon, senior general manager at MERKUR Casino Aberdeen, who joined the venue in June 2025 and brings more than 30 years of experience in the gaming and leisure industry.
George said: “When I arrived at MERKUR Casino Aberdeen, one of my first goals was to stage an event that brings people together while supporting a cause that truly matters. With the support of Help for Heroes, our customers and local sponsors, we’re determined to make this tournament a real success for the Aberdeen community.
“Help for Heroes carries out incredible work supporting veterans and their families. The physical and emotional sacrifices made by members of the armed forces should never be forgotten, and we’re proud to play a small part in giving something back.
George is now inviting businesses from across the city to sponsor the event and help maximise the funds raised. Sponsors will play a key role in boosting fundraising efforts while supporting a community event that brings people together for four days of entertainment.
MERKUR supports charity initiatives across the UK, funded by the business and voluntary donations from its customers. To date, the organisation has supported more than 130 community groups and charities nationwide.
