FanDuel has continued to enhance its government relations division by welcoming James Hartmann and Louis Trombetta to the team, as announced today (December 11). This department, known for its broad focus that includes collaborating with state legislatures and engaging with Native American communities, is rapidly expanding.
James Hartmann brings a wealth of legal expertise to the table. Prior to his involvement in politics, he served as a prosecutor in both Chicago and New York City. In Illinois, he assumed the role of the lead house gaming attorney and played a crucial part in crafting the 2019 legislation that paved the way for the legalization of sports betting in the state.
Louis Trombetta held the distinction of being the inaugural executive director of the Florida Gaming Commission. In this role, he led the establishment and regulation of the commission and helped prioritize its legislative agenda.
Following the defeat of a commercial sports betting initiative by California tribes in 2022, FanDuel has been intensifying efforts to bolster its government relations team with experts in Native American affairs. The company is at the forefront within the industry, dedicating efforts to engage and educate itself about tribal nations that are pivotal to gaming in many parts of the United States.
“As we continue to grow our government relations team, we are excited to welcome two seasoned professionals who comprehend our business, possess strong legislative reputations, and can assist us in highlighting the benefits of legalized and regulated gambling for states,” stated Ceasar Fernandez, FanDuel’s chief of state government relations, in a press release.
