**Paddy Power Launches Heartfelt Christmas Campaign: “A Shirt’s Not Just For Christmas, It’s For Life”**

Paddy Power has unveiled its latest Christmas campaign, bringing festive cheer with the slogan ‘A Shirt’s Not Just For Christmas, It’s For Life.’ This new initiative, crafted by BBH London for the Flutter Entertainment brand, showcases actor Danny Dyer dressed as a mullet-sporting dad and boxing promoter Eddie Hearn as a savvy football club owner. The ad humorously explores Dyer’s nostalgic moment of unwrapping his first football shirt on Christmas morning.

Reflecting on the campaign, Paddy Power remarked, “Much like many fans, receiving my first football shirt from my dad sparked a lifetime of devotion, enthusiasm, and a fair share of heartache – hinting at the team I root for. At Christmas, we all appreciate a good laugh – which is exactly what this ad encapsulates. A shirt isn’t just for Christmas; it’s a lifelong commitment.”

The commercial follows Dyer’s character, Andy, as he opens a Christmas gift from his father – a Hardlypool United shirt from the eighties. The storyline then traces Andy’s journey through the years as he loyally supports his team through ups and downs.

Danny Dyer shared his sentiments, saying, “There was never any doubt about my team, and it certainly wasn’t Millwall! West Ham has been my first love ever since I got that shirt as a child. There’s nothing quite like donning that shirt with pride, backing your team through thick and thin.”

The narrative continues with Andy as a father, gifting his own children a Hardlypool United shirt on Christmas, perpetuating the family tradition.

Lawrence Bushell, Associate Creative Director at BBH London, reflected on the ad: “Receiving a football shirt for Christmas often marks the beginning of a lifelong journey, though it can sometimes feel like a curse. Just ask any Spurs fan. We hope this campaign serves as a light-hearted reminder to football lovers this festive season. After all, a shirt is for life.”

In conjunction with the campaign, a study was conducted by the sports betting and online casino operator, revealing that 56% of football fans across the UK received their first shirt as a gift from a family member.

Michelle Spillane, Paddy Power’s Managing Director of Marketing, concluded, “This campaign is more than just an advertisement; it’s a heartfelt tribute to football. We’ve always cherished the eccentricities, passion, and enjoyment that make the sport unique. For our inaugural Christmas ad, we wanted something daring, humorous, and full of emotion – truly embodying the essence of the beautiful game.”
