Sportradar’s CEO, Carsten Koerl, begins the company’s 2023 sustainability report by likening their initiatives to the disciplined efforts of an athlete. “Achieving success hinges on determination, diligence, and consistency,” he remarks. “Our ESG program embodies our pledge to make ethical, sustainable, and socially conscious decisions.”

The approach targets several areas, including promoting diversity and inclusion in its workforce, engaging with local communities, adhering to worldwide regulations, and minimizing its environmental impact.

This strategic vision is encapsulated by the acronym SPORT: Sustainable, People-focused, Oversight, Respect, and Technology-driven.

The program has advanced quickly. In 2023, Sportradar conducted its inaugural company-wide survey to gauge its environmental influence. This initiative led to shifting 85% of internal operations to AWS, away from physical data centers, with the goal of reaching 90% soon. Property leases are now influenced by sustainable construction choices, resulting in relocating 520 employees in the Philippines to more eco-friendly offices last December.

**Focus on Training**

Regarding diversity and inclusion, Sportradar achieved a 100% completion rate for its workplace equity and diversity training, supported by new Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) like Women in Tech, Sportradar Pride, as well as Neurodiversity and Multicultural ERGs, both introduced in 2023.

In a business centered around sports integrity, adhering to top oversight and governance standards is crucial for its ESG goals. The company also reports 100% completion for its code of conduct and insider trading training. Additionally, its integrity division volunteered 2,270 hours for preventive, detective, and investigative support in 2023.

Technology is the backbone of Sportradar’s operations. From regularly updating security measures to enforcing strict data privacy protocols, the same enthusiasm that advances its products and technology is applied to its sustainability efforts.

“These initiatives go beyond corporate duty,” Koerl expresses. “They are a moral commitment to creating lasting value for all stakeholders – our investors, clients, partners, employees, and the communities we serve.”
