Tenerife government looking to sell Casinos de Tenerife

Tender will be put out for Tenerife casinos in Taoro, Santa Cruz, and Playa de Las Américas

The local government, Calibido, is once again looking to offload Casinos de Tenerife with its casinos in Taoro, Santa Cruz, and Playa de Las Américas, having failed to sell them in 2018 for €25m. Analysts believe the figure could now be double that amount.

The Playa de Las Américas Casino, located in the H10 Gran Tenerife Hotel, is expected to bring in €7.6m this year, fuelled by the growth of both slots, up 20 per cent, and table games, up five per cent, following its renovation and modernisation. This would give an increase of 13.4 per cent from last year’s earnings.

The Santa Cruz Casino is expected to generate €3.1m, marking a 21.5 per cent increase with slots up 15 per cent and table games up 2.5 per cent, as well as new areas including the Racing Zone Canarias and the Art Tunnel.

The Taoro Casino, the oldest on the island, is located in Puerto de la Cruz, and expects revenue close to €7.5m, marking an increase of 16.3 per cent from this year, with a profit of €2.6m.

The Cabildo is planning to replace older machines and enhance the gaming floors with new management and control software.
