Sweden’s gambling regulator, Spelinspektionen, has confirmed that the country will begin implementing new gambling supervision fees from March 1, 2026.
The revised online casino and betting license fee will cost €22,680 per license, per fee period, with operators holding both types having to pay separately for each, while gambling software permits will cost €1,300 per fee period.
Each fee period is equal to 12 months, starting from the day that the license or permit is issued, and it can be renewed annually as long as it remains valid. Fees are charged per license, not per corporate group, and if the license is shorter than a year, then the fee is calculated proportionally.
State lotteries, public-benefit lotteries, bingo, and land-based venues have separate fees, with land-based venue costs ranging from €284 for up to three venues to €80,000 for up to 100 locations. Additionally, ship-based gambling will be charged at €470 per vessel.
The fee for lotteries with public benefit purposes is between €1,175 for operators with a turnover of up to €283,000 and €19,970 for those with a turnover above €95,000,000.
Fees will be invoiced in advance for the coming time period, and the Spelinspektionen has the authority to reduce or waive fees in exceptional cases.
