The “Drake curse” struck again at the Super Bowl as the rapper wagered $1 million on the New England Patriots only to see the team lose badly to the Seattle Seahawks.

Drake posted his ill-fated bet slip on Instagram before the game, showing his wager at Stake, the crypto betting platform he has publicly endorsed.

He added the caption, “Bet against me if you dare.” Those who have wagered against the Canadian could have made considerable profits over the years. The rapper has often publicly shown his losing bet slips and declared 2025 as his “roughest gambling year.” This year has not begun any better with the losing Super Bowl bet.

Past Examples of Drake Curse

The Super Bowl loss is the latest in a long line of Drake’s losing high-stakes wagers. Some of his big beats included:

  • $1.25 million on the Toronto Maple Leafs to win Game 7 against the Florida Panthers in the NHL Playoffs
  • $1.2 million on Jake Paul to beat Tommy Fury
  • $1 million on Argentina to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in regular time (they won, but in extra time)
  • $800,000 on the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 6 of the NBA Finals
  • $565,000 on Tyson Fury to beat Oleksandr Usyk
  • $355,000 on Mike Tyson to beat Jake Paul in 2024
  • $300,000 on Janick Sinner to win the US Open in 2025
  • $210,000 on Tyler Fritz to win the US Open in 2024
  • $200,000 on Jake Paul to beat Anthony Joshua

The curse has also extended to athletes taking pictures with the star. Several boxers, UFC fighters, and soccer players have taken photos with Drake before losing important matches.

In 2019, Italian soccer side AS Roma banned players from taking photos with the performer, fearing the curse would strike. Roma implemented the ban after Drake posed with soccer player Layvin Kurzawa, just before his team, Paris Saint-Germain, lost 5-1 to rival Lille.

Drake Gambles at Stake Despite Fallout & Lawsuits

The rapper continues to bet big on Stake despite a public falling-out with the company’s owners last year. As a result of the spat, Drake shut down his Kick account, where he had been livestreaming gambling sessions on the platform.

It is unclear whether the rapper is still sponsored by Stake after he publicly called owner Ed Craven a snake. His bets continue to feature the Stake logo, revealing he is gambling at the platform. In 2022, he signed a deal reportedly worth $100 million a year to promote the company.

In addition to suffering large losses at Stake, Drake is also facing multiple lawsuits over promoting the company, which is unlicensed in the US.

In the latest filing, the rapper is accused of using the company to artificially inflate his Spotify plays. Adin Ross, who appeared alongside Drake in his live gambling sessions on Kick, has also been named in the lawsuits.
