LuckBox Studios has appointed former Sportsbet head of sports John Maguire as chief customer officer to “advance the development of its universal sports trading platform”.
Maguire joins the Melbourne-based firm after a spell with FanDuel Australia, where he most recently served as vice-president of trading product and general manager.
Maguire’s main task is the oversight of the development of LuckBox’s sports trading platform. LuckBox said it was planning to establish itself as a pioneer in the prediction markets space.
LuckBox was launched in 2024 by former SportCast exec Ryan Coombs, with a focus on building out probability and pricing technology.
Prior to becoming vice-president of trading product and general manager for Australia at FanDuel, Maguire was vice-president of risk and trading product and technology at the operator.
He moved over to FanDuel from fellow Flutter-owned brand Sportsbet.
He joined the Australian sportsbook in 2012 as a senior risk and trading analyst before working his way up to become commercial lead.
From 2003 to 2012 Maguire held various roles at BOYLE Sports in Ireland.
