The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has reported there were 300 suspicious betting alerts in 2025, representing a 29% year-on-year (YoY) increase from 2024.
The figure, taken from the IBIA’s annual sports betting integrity report, was up against 2024 when 232 alerts for suspicious activity were flagged.
It was also the highest number of alerts within the past five years of IBIA data, surpassing the 286 alerts recorded in 2022.
The 300 alerts came from 16 sports, with football and tennis continuing to be the most reported sports with 110 and 74 alerts, respectively.
Football alerts jumped from 93 in 2024, while tennis alerts rose from 58. Similarly to overall alerts, 2022 represented the highwater mark for both sports.
In 2025, esports and table tennis both had 34 alerts, basketball recorded 27 and other sports totalled 21 alerts.
The IBIA noted Europe reported the largest share at 35% with 104 alerts, followed by North America with 47 reports representing a 16% share, and South America with a 15% share at 44 alerts.
The 104 alerts in Europe was up from the 81 reported last year but below the high of 132 reported in 2022.

Monitoring by the IBIA found 54 sports matches had proven to be corrupted. There were also 24 alerts which led to sanctioning across five sports.
This saw 10 players and six umpires in tennis, two players and one club in football, two darts players, one player and one team in esports and one MMA fighter all stung.
In this year’s report, the IBIA also focused on alerts reported in Africa from 2021 to 2025. It recorded 117 alerts, the most coming from football (67) and tennis (42).
Khalid Ali, IBIA CEO, said: “Our 2025 data highlights a familiar integrity risk pattern, with football and tennis continuing to account for most suspicious betting activity.
“At the same time, the greater scale and reach of our global monitoring and alert platform means our ability to detect, assess and support investigations across markets and sports has increased.
“This is driven by operator intelligence generated by our membership and their continued commitment to identifying, disrupting and preventing betting-related corruption through collective action and information-sharing with our partners.”
