Esports-focused sports betting solutions company Oddin.gg has hired Martyn Lycka, a veteran of the betting and gaming industry, as its new Vice President of Institutional Affairs.
The Czech-founded company is active across Europe and both North and South America, and has been embarking on a particularly ambitious push in Latin American markets in recent years.
By hiring Lycka, the firm is bringing an experienced executive on board, with Lycka having a particularly strong recent background in the betting markets of the Americas from his five-year tenure as Entain’s Senior Vice President for American Regulatory Affairs and Responsible Gambling.
With esports consumption and by extension esports betting particularly huge in Latin America, with well over 60 million esports fans estimated throughout the continent, Oddin.gg understandably sees particularly big business in this region.
“Esports betting has experienced significant development within fully regulated environments,” said Lycka. “This has been the outcome of proactive engagement, education, transparency, and open dialogue with regulators.
“Oddin.gg, as an industry pioneer, has built its approach around those principles, and I’m looking forward to supporting the company as it scales across many more global markets.”
Lycka will be based on the East Coast of the US, itself a particularly significant country for Oddin.gg as the company has licences in the states of New Jersey, Colorado, West Virginia, Ohio, Arizona, as well as the US’ northern neighbour of Ontario, Canada.
He will be tasked with leading licensing, regulatory and responsible gaming efforts as the company plans expansions into more regulated markets. This includes US markets, with the company in the process of securing more state licences and launches.
“As esports betting continues to scale, institutional credibility becomes just as important as product quality,” said Marek Suchar, Co-Founder and Managing Director at Oddin.gg.
“Martin brings deep regulatory experience and a practical understanding of what regulators seek to become comfortable with innovative betting products.
“His appointment strengthens our ability to engage constructively with regulators, addressing integrity, governance, and technological concerns, and to support partners operating in complex regulatory environments.”
