The 158th running of the Belmont Stakes is set to run on Saturday at Saratoga Race Course. Post time is 7:04 p.m. ET with live coverage on FOX.

The race will be contested over 1-1/4 miles at Saratoga before returning to its traditional 1-1/2 miles at Belmont Park next year. Renegade is the 2-1 morning-line favorite.

Here is the nine-horse field for the 2026 Belmont Stakes:

Post Position Horse Trainer Jockey Odds
1 Vitruvian Man Doug O’Neill Antonio Fresu 30-1
2 Power Shift Todd Pletcher Luis Saez 12-1
3 Chief Wallabee Bill Mott Junior Alvarado 3-1
4 Renegade Todd Pletcher Irad Ortiz 2-1
5 Ottinho Chad Brown Dylan Davis 20-1
6 Growth Equity Chad Brown Manny Franco 12-1
7 Commandment Brad Cox John Velazquez 6-1
8 Emerging Market Chad Brown Flavien Prat 6-1
9 Golden Tempo Cherie DeVaux Jose Ortiz 9-2

Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo returns to action Saturday after skipping the Preakness Stakes.

Best Bets to Win Belmont Stakes

A slower pace is expected, with no early speed runners in this field. That works against Golden Tempo, who benefited from a fast pace to close in the Kentucky Derby.

Emerging Market (6-1)

Emerging Market had a rough ride in the Kentucky Derby, losing a shoe along the way en route to a 10th-place finish. Without the congestion produced by a 20-horse field, he should be in line for a much smoother trip under Flavien Prat.

Notably, Emerging Market outran Golden Tempo and seven other rivals during a three-quarter-length victory in the Louisiana Derby back in March. That race was run over 1-3/16 miles, nearly matching this year’s Belmont distance.

Renegade (2-1)

After winning the Arkansas Derby, Renegade drew the unenviable rail for the Kentucky Derby. Irad Ortiz provided a crafty ride in the Kentucky Derby, navigating him from the rail to a runner-up finish.

Renegade has never finished off the board in six career starts, and he won back-to-back races in the lead-up to the Kentucky Derby. There’s a lot to like about the morning-line favorite. He’s a worthy betting favorite.

Chief Wallabee (3-1)

Another popular choice, Chief Wallabee, overcame a tough trip to come home fourth in the Kentucky Derby, finishing three lengths behind Golden Tempo.

Like Emerging Market and Renegade, Chief Wallabee skipped the Preakness and will be fresh for the Belmont. His tactical speed will serve him well in a less-congested field after Ocelli veered into Chief Wallabee down the stretch in the Kentucky Derby.

Notably, trainer Bill Mott and jockey Junior Alvarado won last year’s Belmont with Sovereignty.

Commandment (6-1)

Commandment won four consecutive races, including the Grade 1 Florida Derby, heading into the Kentucky Derby. His seventh-place finish was the result of a rough trip.

Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez is back for the Belmont after trainer Brad Cox opted to skip the Preakness. Expect Commandment to run just off the pace and use his stalking style to hit the board.
